Ashley Madekwe and Ashley Leggat
Madekwe was born South London, England into an ethnically diverse family. Madekwe is English but her father was Nigerian. Her family was raised in a south London council estate and attended The Brit School at age fourteen. At the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art is where she earned a BA degree in acting. In her time at the school, she performed in numerous stage plays, including the King Henry V's Princess Katherine as well as Wuthering Heights.
Madekwe first began her acting career with the film Storm Damage. In the years since she has appeared in Teachers as well as Doctors. Her first role in a film was in Woody Allen's 2007 Cassandra's Dream opposite Colin Farrell, Ewan McGregor. After the film's success, Madekwe played Elisha in The BBC Three drama pilot West 10 LDN and was featured for six seasons Trexx and Flipside. She also landed the part in the role of Bambi in the ITV2 show drama Secret Diary of a Call Girl which aired in three and two series. Madekwe was also the main character on How to lose friends & alienate people and be apathetic, which premiered on Sony Pictures Entertainment back in 2008. Her theatre credits include Little Sweet Thing by Roy Williams as well as Flight Path by David Watson.
Madekwe first aired in the US by presenting The Beautiful Life. The drama series aired in the US on The CW for only two episodes, but it was ended. In February of 2011, she was cast as Ashley Davenport in the ABC drama series Revenge. The departure of Madekwe from the show was officially announced in May of 2013. After a period of two years as the main character she made a guest performance in the very first episode of season 3. The actress portrayed Tituba in the television series Salem from 2014 to the year 2016. Madekwe married her long-time lover, Iddo. The two have collaborated on Secret Diary of a Call Girl, and he has also appeared alongside Madekwe on the show Salem.
Ashley Leggat was born in Hamilton, Ontario, into an extended family of. Her four older brothers were also present including twins Todd and Bram, Brett & Rob. Ashley's brothers were athletic and were avid baseball players during the summer months as well as hockey in winter. Ashley was unable to walk, but could dance. This led to the fact that as she grew older when she was two, she began to learn about Baby Ballet. Ashley was captivated by dance at this age. After graduating from High School, Ashley danced competitively in the highest divisions of tap, jazz, ballet, pointe, acrobatics, musical theatre, lyrical and hip hop. She also won best soloist awards at all major dance contests, including International Dance Challenge, Showstoppers, 56-7-8 Showtime, Flash Dance, Dance, Dance, Dance and many more.
