Anita Saarkessian
Anita Sarkeesian, a Canadian/American media critic, is also a speaking event organizer. She founded Feminist Frequency the website which hosts videos and commentary analyzing depictions of women's roles in popular culture. Anita Sarkeesian a Canadian American media critic. Sarkeesian has a Master's degree in social and political thinking at York University. As a public speaker, she's highly sought after and has spoken at TEDxWomenXOXO and the United Nations Broadband Working Group. Interested in issues concerning gender identities and feminisms from the age of 7, she started her site Feminist Frequency in 2009, while still a student at the university. A woman with ambitions to launch a web-series that would examine the representation of gender in video games, she was targeted by the internet campaign. The harassment didn't dissuade her. She was only able to strengthen her position as a journalist who is feminist. The award-winning journalist has received numerous accolades to recognize her notable contributions to the field of feministism.
