Lee was born Thomas Lee Bass October 3 of 1962 in Athens to David Lee Thomas Bass, an American U.S. Army sergeant and Vassiliki Papadimitriou, who was a contestant in the 1957 Miss Greece beauty pageant (Greek: Basilike Papademetriou). Athena is his older sister. She is also a drummer. When Lee was around two years [4of age His father moved the family back to the United States, settling in California.Lee got his first drumsticks when he was just four years old. It was his first drum kit when he reached the age of teenager. He quit high school in order to pursue the field of music starting with the L.A. club band Suite 19. He listened to Van Halen, Led Zeppelin and Cheap Trick as a teenager. John Bonham, Tommy Aldridge and Alex Van Halen were his principal drumming influences. Terry Bozzio also has a major influence.
